Our Team


David Keyser
Born in Perth and raised in the wheat belt, David has been a partner in the practice since 1988. Over the years, David has accumulated a wealth of experience across many industries.

David spent six years working for the Bank of New South Wales prior to undertaking full time study to complete his Bachelor of Business degree.  Once he commenced working for KGL he continued on to complete his Certified Practising Accountant qualification.

David is focused on assisting his clients improve their business operations, their personal wealth and planning for their future retirement.

Married to Michele with three adult children, David is a keen family man. He utilises his spare time to pursue golf, gardening, camping and travelling. David is also a member of the South Bunbury Rotary Club.

Troy Staples
Troy was born and raised on the family farm overlooking the South-West town of Harvey.

As a partner at KGL, a Certified Practising Accountant holding a Bachelor of Business degree and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Troy takes a hands-on approach to assisting owners with their business management and dealing with their taxation compliance.

With a focus on business performance, asset protection and business succession Troy takes a practical approach to explaining complex issues in a way that real people can understand them.

Married to Tiffany and with four children, Troy has a love of farming, camping, four wheel driving and all things mechanical.

Dana Maher
Bunbury born and bred Dana graduated in 2002 from Edith Cowan University. She joined the firm in 2006 after working for four and a half years for another local firm. Dana is a qualified CPA and provides support to David Keyser and the team at KGL.

Dana loves to stay active and is a keen beach volleyballer which she plays all year round. In 2007 Dana took six months leave to travel the UK and Europe and spent time working in the accounting industry in the UK which has helped broaden her horizons.

Today Dana is settled in her home town with her husband, daughter and young son and enjoys time spent with her family and friends.

Accounting Team

Sharon Sutherland
Sharon joined KGL in 2007 following her move from New Zealand. She joined KGL as our Business Manager after 20 years as a senior accounting manager in New Zealand. Sharon is responsible for the day to day running of our business as well as providing accounting service for our clients.

She is married with two adult children. In her spare time she enjoys an outdoor lifestyle which includes horse riding, cycling, most sports and family time. Sharon and her husband John have recently purchased a caravan with a view to joining the 'grey nomads' in the next few years.

Melissa Willis
Mel was born and raised in Bunbury and currently lives in Gelorup with her partner, daughters and 2 dogs. In her free time she enjoys reading, relaxing, catching up with friends and family and shopping. She has been at KGL since May 2008 and completed her Bachelor of Business degree in December 2009. Mel is a qualified CPA.

Dawid Opperman
Dawid grew up on a farm in South Africa.  He ran his own home based practice for almost 6 years in South Africa and moved to Australia in 2008.  After 2 years braving the cold weather in Canberra, he and his family relocated to sunny Bunbury.  Dawid loves the outdoors and spends most of his free time with his wife and three children.

Shan Rosman
(Shan is currently on Parental Leave). Shan was born in Manjimup. In 2008 Shan moved to Perth to complete her Bachelor of Commerce degree at Curtin University. She now lives in Glen Iris with her partner, Justin, daughter and new baby boy and is enjoying the quieter lifestyle Bunbury has to offer. Shan joined the team at KGL in July 2011 and has commenced CPA studies. In her spare time, Shan enjoys playing basketball, fishing, cooking and catching up with family and friends.

Tim Collins 
Tim grew up in Boyanup and lived there until he was 18 years old. Joining KGL in 2012, he is currently studying a Bachelor of Business degree with a double major in Accounting and Public Practice at Edith Cowan University in Bunbury. Tim currently lives in Treendale with his wife, Emma, and daughter, Indigo. Prior to his studies, Tim worked in the retail, fire safety, farming and candy making industries.

Tim is a state basketball and beach volleyball player who enjoys going to the gym at the local Surf Club as well as spending quality time with his family and friends. 

Chiara Smith 
Chiara grew up in Brunswick Junction and Australind with her family and is currently living in Eaton with her partner and their dog, Kiba. She has been with our team since September 2016, and is currently studying a Bachelor of Business with a major in Accounting at Edith Cowan University. Chiara has previously worked in the accounting industry along with retail and administration work, but has also made time to travel over the past few years. 

In her spare time, she enjoys four wheel driving, camping, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Administration Team

Tanya Scott
Tanya grew up in Bunbury, WA.  She currently lives in Australind with her husband, three teenage daughters, her dog (also known as the fourth daughter!) and an extremely grumpy cat.  Tanya's busy family keeps her on her toes!  When she has spare time, she enjoys fishing, camping, reading and socializing. 

Tanya brings 10+ years worth of experience to our administration team.

Michelle Nietrzeba 
Michelle was born in Scotland and has lived in Bunbury since she was 12 years old.  Michelle is married to Mark and has two teenage children and a five year old!  She started at KGL in 2001.  She has returned to us after having two years off after having her youngest little boy.  Michelle now works 4 days a week in reception, this is what she loves and she is always keen to provide great service and have a chat too!

Leah Ivey 
Leah was born in Carnarvon and grew up on a banana plantation. In 2015 Leah relocated to Bunbury with her partner, joining the KGL team soon after. She has previously worked in customer service and office administration roles. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
